In the 19th century, much rain fell on Ireland and potatoes didn't grow, but rotted. There was little to eat for Irish people: many died and many emigrated to America.
Today in the USA, many people (about 42 millions!!) can say they have origins in Ireland. Boston is Ireland's capital outside Ireland. This monument on the right shows the Irish-Americans have not forgotten the "Great Famine" (between 1845 and 1848)
