Left:
reconstruction of a cabin in an American museum about the Irish immigration.
Passengers from all over Europe had very bad travelling conditions (but America
was probably better than life in Europe...????).
Right:
a monument in central Boston, to commemorate the arrival of masses of Irish
immigrants. Boston is famous because it was (and is) the capital of Irish
people outside Ireland!! Today
in America, more than 42 million Americans have Irish origins and about half
a million Irish people live permanently in America.
Left
and right: Irish-Americans of today meet and celebrate their origins. Many of
the Irish Americans go back to Ireland to meet some people of their family who
didn't emigrate.
In
central New York, a monument to the Irish people who emigrated to try and "make
it" in America: The USA remember this part of their history.
